"I'm trying to raise some money..."

"For what? Olu asked Ngozi over their mouthfuls of fried plantain and Jollof rice. He scrapped the bottom of the dish which emits a notorious sound.

"There is this beautiful business idea I have but I need more money to start. What I gathered so far is not enough." She said.

"Hmm. Everyone needs money. A lot of good projects have died because of money. Many ideas are in the graves because the owners could not pull them off due to financial reasons."

"Yea, so will you help me?" She was staring at him.

Olu looked up, the spoon hanging in the air. He dropped it and put his hands together.

"How much are we talking about?" He looked into her eyes.

"Just $100k" she said casually.

"100 what?” He shouted.

“Who gave you the idea I have so much money stacked away?” He stared at her."

“Well, I don’t know. Will you help or not.” Ngozi was done with the food. She was holding a can of Pepsi Soda.

“Honestly, I don’t have that kind of money at the moment. Even if I do, my business concerns will not make it available you know. I have to be prepared for raining days.”

“Hmmn” she nodded.

“You do understand Ngozi. I wish I can help but I don’t have it.”

“You know anyone who can help?”

“Hmm, I think I do. My cooperative can help you but you have to be a member first.”

“How will they help me?”

“A cooperative is a group of people who plan to own businesses/investments. They save and pool their money to fund enterprises. They help members pull off their biz ideas…”

“Please tell me more. I am interested…”

Years later, Ngozi is a proud business owner. She couldn’t have done it without the jolt she got from the cooperative. Members funded her beautiful idea. She is now a happy CEO.

You too can be next. What ideas do you have that are being hampered by funding? We can help.
